DATE: 23 June 1998

FROM: Thomas A. Day, Arizona State University

A postdoctoral position is available to study the significance of UV-induced
blue-green autofluorescence in leaves and its possible role in
photosynthesis. Investigations include characterizing this autofluorescence
using spectrofluorometry and fiberoptic microprobes, assessing the
contribution of this autofluorescence to photosynthesis, and identification
of autofluorescing phenolics. Candidates with expertise in
spectrofluorometry and spectroscopy, and photosynthesis measurements (IRGA,
O2 electrode) are preferred and MS-level applicants with these skills will
be considered. Applicants should send (via email or fax) a CV along with the
names, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of three references to Thomas
A. Day, Department of Plant Biology, Box 871601, Life Sciences E-wing, Room
218, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ 85287-1601; fax: 602-965-6899;
e-mail: tadday at AA/EOE.
