nitrogen storage in mediterranean evergreens

It is known that nitrogen is stored in wood like in leaves
of deciduous like evergreen species, conifers or
broad-leaved. Sometimes have also been identified specific
vegetative proteins. I wonder if the internal cycle of
nitrogen could be quantified by protein content along the
year, If differences will be appreciated, will htem be
evident aslo in total nitrogen content or not?

Especially I am interested in broad-leaved evergreen species
typical of southern europe ecosystems, where summer stress
is a constant and nitrogen availability from the soil is
very low.

Regards.
