Avoiding Junk postings to the FP newsgroup

The answer is no the postings are not filtered.
The best way to avoid the junk is to access the postings via the Web (http://www.bio.net/hypermail/FLUORESCENT-PROTEINS) or using a Newsreader, rather than subscribing to the Email list.  That way you can just skip unwanted solicitations and other obviously junk postings.
