Expression of GFP in filamentous fungi

A mutant version of GFP has been used successfully in Ustilago maydis 
(Spellig et al. (1996) Mol Gen Genet 252: 503-509). It can be obtained 
from Jen Sheen, e-mail : sheen at frodo.mgh.harvard.edu. Codon usage can be 
a problem; this clone worked well in U. maydis although it had not been 
engineered for this fungus, but for Maize. You need a good promoter as 
well.
