GFP and Lysosomes

Does anyone know if GFP and its variants are active if they are sent to
lysosomes by fusing the GFP gene to a gene that will target them to
lysosomes?  In other words, can you visualize lysosomal compartments by
targeting GFP to them or will the pH of the lysosomes completely
interfere with fluorescence?  Thanks.
