Can we see the green color if we use UV light?

In Clontech catalog, there is a picture, which shows that JM109 cells
transformed with pEGFP were plated on LB/Amp. The plate was irradiated
with long-wave UV light for visual detection. Can I see the green color
of GFP if I use UV-transilluminator?
If I can do so, what value of wave-length do I need? and is that
instrument comercial?
