Post-doctoral Research Worker in Genetic Statistics
Applications are invited to work with David Curtis and Pak Sham
on developing new methods of analysis of genetic marker data, at
the Institute of Psychiatry, London.
The successful applicant will preferably have a PhD and
expertise in statistics, preferably as applied to genetics.
Familiarity with MSDOS and Unix, and some ability to program C
or C++ would also be desirable. The projects envisaged include:
1) Further development of the FASTMAP algorithm, including
performance under conditions of locus heterogeneity; 2) Methods
for detection of two-locus traits using the joint distribution
of two-point lods; 3) Further development of methods of
detecting linkage not dependent on correct specification of
transmission model. However there may be some scope to work on
alternative projects according to the interests of the
applicant.
Salary in the Reseach Worker 1A range, 16075 to 21460 pounds
sterling p.a. (inclusive of 2134 p.a. London Allowance). The
post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for two years.
