Well, 'binding' should be replaced by 'retarded'. As David Ashford
already pointed out: ConA binds to oligomannose and hybrid type glycans.
So, using ConA can result in three (!) pools. A unretarded pool of
proteins bearing no or only tri/tetra-antennery glycans, a retarded pool
of glycoproteins bearing bi-antennary glycans, and a bound pool of
glycoproteins with oligomannose or hybrid type structures.
