I have read that glycosaminoglycans maybe precipitated using quaternary
ammonium salts (e.g. cetylpyridinium chloride) but, have not found any
procedures on this done. Can someone share any information on how one
can precipitate glycosaminoglycans using quaternary ammonium salts:
a. Volume or weight of crude glycosaminoglycans to volume or weight
of quaternary ammonium salt.
b. pH and temperature for this precipitation to occur at.
c. Methods of dissociating the glycosaminoglycan from the
quaternary ammonium salt after precipitation.
d. Methods for purifying the quaternary ammonium salt and
glycosaminoglycan after dissociation.
e. Manufactures of cetylpyridium chloride besides Sigma.
Does anyone have any information of using aqueous two phase systems
(e.g. polyethylene glycol/dextran, polyethylene glycol/inorganic salts,
or any other combination of compounds used in aqueous two phase systems)
for precipitating/purifying glycosaminoglycans?
