For those of you who are following these interesting discussions, you may
want to glance at the recent Science issue (Aug 14, 1992 Vol 257). There
are several papers that deal with how MHC molecules recognize and present
foreign peptides to the cells that mount the immune system's attack.

Two studies address how class I MHC molecules recognize foreign peptides.
(Fremont et al. pp. 919) and Matsumura et al. (pp. 927). Latrone et al.
(pp. 964) studied the effect of mutating conserved resi0dues in a human
MHC class I molecule of known structure.

For my immunology course, there is a requirement for a journal club pre-
sentation by the instructor and students each week. I plan to start the
immunology seminar series this fall with a seminar on these papers.

When I'm done preparing a summary of these, I'll post them if there is
an interest. What are your thoughts on the subject matter contained in
these papers?

   Regards,

      Bill
