(I posted this to sci.med.nursing already - I'm posting is here because of
the focus on research. Please suggest any more appropriate forums you may
be aware of - thanks).
I am a R.N. who just went out on disability from a major metropolitan
hospital after having developed an acute allergy to latex, with
accompanying
sensitivity to many other chemicals. As I started to learn of the
overall
scope of the problem at this hospital, I was surprised to hear that
hunderds
of people have reported symptoms to the employee health department related
to
air quality problems
in the last year.
Can anyone offer information about identification and treatment of
multiple
chemical sensitivities? I've heard John Hopkin's lab has developed an
effective
latex RAST - how can I find out more about this? Do they (or any one
else)
have other tests to identify or confirm sensitivities to other chemicals
(formaldehyde, gluteralderhyde, ethylene oxide, etc)?
Please reply to fontanap at aol.com, or post to this group.
Thanks for your time and consideration - Janet Fontana
