I am a Ph.D., not an M.D., and I cannot give advice to patients, except
to tell them the names of books. One way I have done this is something
that patients with access to the Internet can do for themselves--use the
on-line catalogue of the Library of Congress. Type
telnet locis.loc.gov Mon-Fri 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sat from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. or Sun from 1-5 p.m. eastern time. Most of the books will be for
experts but a few may be for lay people. The type of book for lay people
that I have seen most often is one for parents of children with a particular
disease.
