late reoccurences can occur but are unlikely if he has been in continuous disease-free. he should be closely followed (yearly) by his oncologist. childhood leukemia (all) is curable in 70% of cases. acute non-lymphoblastic leukemia (aml) is curable only in 40-50% of cases. cure could be used if the patient has been in continuous remission for 4-5 years after diagnosis/treatment
