Staining SDS-PAGE gels without fixing proteins

A suitable method can be found in the excellant lab manual "Antibodies" by E.
Harlow and D. Lane p61-62. They suggest only fixing & staining a strip of the
gel, then lining up this with untouched part of gel. Also if you want to
modify your antigen as little as possible, try running PAGE gels with other
detergents than SDS.
