As an additional step towards promoting awareness and discussion of
autoimmune conditions, we are pleased to announce a new web page called:
Autoimmunity Research Resources
For those of you with access to the web, the url is:
http://www.cps.msu.edu/~keyesdav/ms
The page was designed by David Keyes at msu, and is intended to be a
companion to the autoimmune_research distribution list. The site will
archive postings to the discussion list and already provides a wealth of
links to web resources about autoimmunity and autoimmune conditions. At
present we have included links to resources on generalimmunology, online
journals, research centers, and pharmaceutical companies, and as well as
specific resources on diabetes, multiple sclerosis, lupus, psoriasis,
rheumatoid arthritis, Reiter's syndrome and ankylosing spondylitis, and
scleroderma. The complete listing of the web page is given in this
message below.
If you know of good additional links, please send a message to David or to me.
Please keep in mind that this page is new and underconstruction.

General Information
Mission Statement
The purpose of this site is to share information about research on
autoimmune disorders among
professionals and patients. The autoimmune diseases in question include,
but are not limited to:
Diabetes Mellitus
Multiple Sclerosis
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Psoriasis
Lupus
Reiters Syndrome and Ankylosing Spondylitis
Scleroderma
These conditions all appear to involve imbalances in the immune system
leading to autoimmunity, a
self-directed attack by the immune system.
This resource is intended to facilitate discussion of ongoing research
into the basic mechanisms of
autoimmunity and treatments for specific autoimmune conditions. It is not
intended to be a
repository for discussions of specific treatment regimes, reactions to
medications, or support.
We welcome research-related submissions, in various formats, and will post
them where
appropriate. The type of material we are soliciting includes:
Abstracts of recently published articles
Information on research-in-progress
Accessible summaries of new developments in our understanding of
the immune system
News accounts about new treatments
References to other quality online information archives
Submitting Material
There are several methods for submitting information.
Moderated E-Mail Distribution List
If you have something you want to post to the list, then simply
send it to
autoimmune_research at ksg1.harvard.edu.
The list is moderated to ensure that the focus remains on research.
This means that the
moderators reserve the right not to post all submissions.
World Wide Web Page
A form is available for submitting suggested new Universal Resource
Locators to this
page.
Participation
To make this work, we need to get a critical mass of people interested in
participating, both in the
patient and in the research communities. If you think of ways to do this,
please send e-mail to
michaelw at ksg1.harvard.edu.
