I can't say much about it, but take a look at the rabbit myxomitosis virus
in Australia and this cyberpunk novel (no, really) by William Gibson
entitled _Virtual Light_.  Both involve viral competition of a sort, and the
myxomitosis one is factual.
 
Remember, a parasite is better off if it doesn't kill its host.
