Two Assistant Professorships: Evolutionary
Biology and Immunology
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOTH POSITIONS*:
Earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences and post
doctoral research experience. Record of published
research in refereed journals and a potential to develop
a research program involving undergraduate and graduate
students that will lead to scientific publication in
refereed journals.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR BOTH
POSITIONS **: Two or more years of post doctoral
research experience. Strong commitment toward
undergraduate teaching. Prior teaching experience at
the post secondary level. Potential to develop and
teach courses in addition to specialty that contribute
to program concentrations in cellular & molecular
biology and/or ecology. Demonstrated flexibility and
willingness to work cooperatively as a team member.
DUTIES: Evolution position: Develop and teach upper
division lecture courses in Evolution, Population
Genetics/Biology, and an upper division lecture/lab
course in Molecular Tools in Ecology and Evolution.
Immunology position: Develop and teach upper division
courses in Immunology, area of expertise, and a lab
course that incorporates tissue culture techniques.
Both positions: Participate in teaching other courses,
including lower division courses for majors and/or non
majors. Develop and sustain an independent research
program, preferably on campus, that involves students
and leads to scientific publications in refereed
journals. Participate in committees and other
activities that serve the program, university, and
community.
