The porphyrin ring of the haemoglobin molecule has been reported to have
an inhibitory effect (at least) on Taq DNA polymerase. Heparin has also
been shown to have a inhibitory effect on the enzyme (could be a problem
if you have collected the blood using heparin as an anticoagulant).
