In "Learning Medical Terminology" by Miriam G. Austrin, there is
an entire page for rough synonyms for the term Myalgic Encephomyelitis,
(ME). I suggest that these terms be used in indivdual cases with ME
being used in the media. This will allow a better integration in the
international medical community, which will continue to use the Latin
medical terms, whatever we choose.
This name was proposed in 1984 by Dr. Behan of Glascow, Scotland,
and a more general use of it would recognize his early and important work
on CFIDS.
