Many seem to maintain that prion diseases, specifically scrapie, can be
transmitted from ewe to lamb across the placenta. In an article in
Nature in 1990, Westaway and Prusiner seem sceptical. What the
conventional wisdom on this today, 6 years latter? Thanks from a
