Polio is a caused by a virus

But I'm afraid you're going to have your work cut out for you.  There have
been less than 10 cases of paralytic polio in the last 5 years, in the
whole of the US, and almost all of those in a single epeidemic in small
religious community in Pennsylvania.


It might be smarter to choose a disease that is not almost extinct in this
country and really is increasing.  A good suggestion might be organisms
involved in food or water poisoning, which really are showing an increase.
