...I know that (in terms of infants, at least) capsular polysaccharide 
antigens cannot yet be acted against as thymus-independent antigens 
(this ability is acquired a bit later on...I've forgotten exactly when, 
however), and some other vaccinations, while they don't necessarily 
"weaken" the immune system, they are pointless to give to an infant as 
long as the infant still possesses circulating maternal IgG.
