Quinolones are only effective (by the mechanism previously described) in 
bacteria; quinine (which is usually used to treat chloroquine-resistant 
Plasmodium falciparum) is a different agent (an alkaloid) which blocks 
DNA synthesis by intercalating into dsDNA and thereby preventing DNA 
synthesis.
