I'm very much including a role for pheromones (possibly via the
vomeronasal organ) and for odors (via olfactory receptors) and thirdly,
via immunological tissues of the nasal mucosa -- in other words, via
nasal tissues other than and in addition to the olfactory and vomeronasal
regions of the nasal cavity.
