homology between antigen and MHC?

This was proposed in the Science paper by Guillet...Sette,Grey, Gefter
20 February 1987 "Immunological self, nonself discrimination".  Except
for this idea, the paper was pretty important.  The homology idea looks
strange only one decade later.
Are you using an old version of Stryer? (latest is 1995)
