I am interested in doing graduate research in psychoneuroimmunology and
would like to monitor the effects of a behavioral intervention on salivary
immunoglobulin A (S-IgA) levels.
Could anyone explain to me exactly what is involved in sample collection
and testing of S-IgA? Would a graduate student at a non-medical
university, such as myself, be able to collect these samples and have them
tested? Or would I have to be under the supervision of a medical
professional (if so, what type of professional would qualify)?
Forgive my ignorance, but I really need to know if testing S-IgA is going
to be a feasible outcome measure for my study. Any help would be greatly
appreciated!
Thanks
Dave
