There are 2 standard assays: (1) a gel-shift (electromobility shift
assay) to detect kB binding activity in the nuclear extracts (inactive
NF-kB is held in the cytosol), and (2) transfecting a reporter construct
linked to kB sites (usually multimerized) into the cells. Luciferase and
CAT are common reporters; b-gal is another option.
