An alternative approach to try and determine Vitamin C uptake by macrophages
is to use crystalline Vitamin C which is tagged with Carbon-14 or Tritium.
There are companies that make such products mainly for testing how
pharmaceuticals are metabolized. An area of skin which is challenged should
show increased, but low, radioactivity. Since Vitamin C is water soluble,
any tagged Vitamin C should have exited the body in 24 hours. I believe
learning how Vitamin C works in the immune system is very important.
