The Research Groups of the Department of Medicine / Medical Outpatient
Clinics (PD Dr. M. Heim) and Experimental Immunology (PD Dr. G. De
Libero) invite applicants for two PhD Studentships.

The group of Dr. Heim is interested in intracellular signal transduction
through the Jak-STAT pathway on a basic and applied level. Basic
research activities focus on the specificity of signal transduction
through the pathway. Applied projects are investigating the role of the
Jak-STAT pathway in liver physiology and liver disease.

The group of Dr. De Libero is interested in presentation of glycolipid
antigens by CD1 molecules to human T lymphocytes. Basic research
activities focus on mechanisms of CD1-glycolipid-T cell receptor
interaction. Applied projects are investigating the role of this new
type of T cell antigen recognition in autoimmune and inflammatory
diseases.
