On a PC, you can also use visual basic in an Excel macro to activate the
terminal program and feed many plates of data into Excel. Then you can
take it to any computer you want as an Excel file. I think this is the
easiest way to handle data, especially if you have several plates. As of a
couple years ago, I couldn't do this on a Mac because Apple kept some
internal code proprietary and Excel couldn't use the "send keys" command.
Alternatively, there are desktop macro programs (quick keys? not sure of
the name) for the Mac that allow you to record keystrokes. In this you can
use shortcut keys to cut, paste, save etc. and make plate reading really
easy.
