How can a fragmented DNA be amplified? It had to be fragmented and
re-ligated in order to give a PCR product. This should be a very rare case
- and if the specific template is present in - lets say a few ten thousand
copies (if you use low amounts of DNA) - the  rare religated fragment
should not be amplified enough to give a band.

Or am I mistaken??
