I have just learnt the very sad news that César Milstein died early on
Sunday morning 24th March. Many will know his name as associated with the
discovery of Monoclonal Antibodies, Köhler and Milstein 1975, part of
the work for which they received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine
in 1984.

I had the honour to be a PhD student of César's from 1978-1981 and very
much remember all of the advice and the continuing influence of his ideas
on my research career.
