PhD position in Molecular Infectiology- AG Papadopoulou, IMMIH

One position for a highly motivated PhD student is available starting from
January 2011 in the lab of Dr. Nikoletta Papadopoulou, Institute for Medical
Microbiology, Immnunology and Hygiene, at the University Hospital Cologne
The successful candidate will join a newly established group and study the
role of miRNAs in host-pathogen interactions using a wide range of
techniques, including mouse genetics, molecular cell biology, biochemistry
and microbiology, to elucidate how post-transcriptional regulation by miRNAs
is implicated to the innate immune response of myeloid cells against
bacterial infection in vitro and in vivo. This work is associated to the
SFB670 on 'Cell autonomous immunity' (http://immih.uk-koeln.de/forschung).
The applicant should have a strong background in innate immunity and
signalling, and experience in one of the following methodologies: protein
biochemistry, mammalian cell and molecular biology, bacterial infections, or
mouse genetics. He/She is required to hold diploma or masters degree in
biology, biochemistry or a related field. Strong written and oral
communication skills in English are required.
