RE: reply to "Journal Cancellations"/Don Forsdyke

I wish to comment on Don Forsdyke's recommendation.
It does not seem very useful to me to recommend to publish
in a journal just because its subscription rate is $210 (the
Indian Journal of Experimental Biology) instead of the $3304
(Canadian) the journal Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry
is quoted to cost.
When comparing journals one should give the price per text
unit (not per printed page) plus some information on the
technical quality (especially of photograph reproduction)
and other "services" like average publication time, quality
of refereeing, language editing, and speed of shipping to the
subscribers.
And: is anything wrong with high citation figures for excel-
lent reviews? I would not call this "inflating the impact
factor".
This is the opinion of someone "on the other side", the
publisher's.
