Disease Resistance

A Multidisciplinary project seeking to use conventional techniques of
plant breeding and plant pathology and contemporary techniques of
molecular biology to understand the genetic control of fungal disease
resistance in the genus Lycopersicon (Tomato). The
ultimate goal of the project is to identify and transfer genes
conferring disease resistance to the cultivated tomato via
marker-assisted selection and/or transformation. Seeking a
postgraduate researcher with a M.S. or a Ph.D. degree in plant
pathology or related fields. The individual should have experience
with plant fungal pathogens and disease resistance. The main
responsibility of the incumbent would be screening tomato populations
for disease resistance. The individual would also be collaborating
with other members of the group to genetically map and identify
resistance genes. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
