PhD Position - INSTITUTE for PLANT GENETICS and CROP PLANT RESEARCH (IPK),
Germany.

Applications are invited for a PhD position available in a research project
supported by the German Research Council (DFG) aiming at map based cloning
of a disease resistance gene in barley. Candidates should have an education
in biological sciences, i.e., genetics, plant breeding or molecular
biology, and have gathered first research experience in DNA cloning,
application of molecular markers in genetic linkage analysis. Additional
expertise regarding the application of megabase technologies will be
beneficial. The incumbent will become member of a research group (Molecular
Cereal Genetics) with a major focus on molecular mapping in barley of
disease resistance and agronomic traits, marker development, analysis of
rice-barley synteny and gene isolation. The position is open immediately,
initially for a period of 2 years. Salary will commensurate to BAT IIa-O.
