JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

JOB TITLE:      Research Specialist in Agriculture (Maize Molecular Genetics)

DUTIES:         Individual will be responsible for performing experiments on
molecular marker mapping analyses of maize.  Particular emphasis will be placed
on mapping genes controlling concentration of oil and fatty acids.  The
position is part of an effort to develop value-added high oil, high oleic maize
hybrids. Individual will share in some management of overall laboratory
operations.  Some field work may be required.

TRAINING:       B.S. in  a biological or related science is required.
Applicants with an M.S. degree will also be considered.  Laboratory experience
in molecular genetics/biology is  preferred.  The successful candidate should
have experience in techniques including PCR amplification of  plasmid and
genomic sequences, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and
Southern analysis; highly desirable experience includes cloning DNA fragments,
plasmid preparation.  Experience in statistical analysis of molecular marker
data points is desirable.

SALARY:         Commensurate with training and experience.  This is a full-time
academic, non-tenure track position, funded by grant monies.

STARTING DATE:  The position is available beginning as soon as possible after
closing date or when a suitable candidate is available.
