Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
Plant Biologist with research interest in Cell Signaling and/or
Regulation in Plants
Lehman College, The City University of New York
The City University of New York (CUNY) is undertaking a major
initiative in the biosciences. The University is recruiting
tenure-track faculty into three focus areas: macromolecular
assemblies, neurosciences, and cell signaling and regulation. These
areas build upon well-funded research themes at the CUNY campuses.
Lehman College is seeking faculty in the focus area of cell signaling
and/or regulation in plants. The candidate will join a strong and
active plant sciences doctoral program that is a long-standing
partnership between CUNY and the New York Botanical Garden
(http://a32.lehman.cuny.edu/PlantPhD). Ongoing research in plant
biology at CUNY includes: biotechnology, metabolic engineering of
plant biosynthetic pathways, natural product biochemistry, medicinal
plants and economic botany, signal transduction, plant-microbial
interactions, in vitro production of plant natural products, plant
development, cell biology, ecology, biodiversity and systematics.
Successful candidates will be expected to establish and/or sustain
active, independent programs of extramurally funded research in
designated areas; teach at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels; publish in peer-reviewed scientific literature; advise
students; serve on college and university committees and participate
in the life of the college. Qualifications: Ph.D in appropriate area,
demonstrated commitment to teaching and research. Postdoctoral and
teaching experience as well as demonstrated ability to publish in
peer-reviewed journals and obtain extramural funding preferred.
Appointment rank and starting salary commensurate with qualifications
and experience; anticipated start date, September 2, 2002.
