A post-doctoral position is available starting September, 2002, in the Dept
of Agronomic Traits within Crop Genetics Research at Pioneer Hi-Bred
International, Inc. The area of research is signal transduction with
emphasis on Arabidopsis. The position involves the conduct of independent
research aimed at relating an identified signal transduction mechanism to
plant growth, and the isolation of key players. This requires gene isolation
and vector construction for Arabidopsis transformation and protein
expression, phenotype evaluation, and affinity purification of protein
complexes for protein interaction studies. Also involved is the use of
expression profiling at the mRNA and protein level utilising existing
in-house or collaborative technology. Close collaboration with other groups
including the Protein Technology group within Crop Genetics Research is
expected and encouraged. The position requires a Ph.D. in plant molecular
biology, biochemistry or related area, with a sound background in basic
molecular techniques, and interest in studying metabolic and signal
transduction pathways.

The position is located at Pioneer Hi-Bred's state-of-the art research
facility at Johnston, Iowa, and provides interaction with several
internationally-acclaimed scientists addressing various aspects of plant
biology. This location also allows access to scientists and research
facilities at the Iowa State University, which is less than an hour's drive
away.
