Graduate Assistantship - Molecular Genetics of Host-Plant Resistance
University of Missouri-Columbia

A talented Ph.D. candidate is sought for an assistantship starting in
Fall 2003 or later in the Plant Sciences Unit at the University of
Missouri - Columbia. Qualified applicants have a B.S. or preferably a
M.S. in plant science or a related field. Drs. David Willmot (breeding
and genetics), Bruce Hibbard (entomology), and Mike McMullen (genomics)
will supervise a project is to investigate host  resistance to corn
rootworm (Diabrotica spp.) using QTL, genomic, biochemical, and
entomological approaches. The student will receive training in field,
lab, and statistical techniques.  We have fully equipped labs and plant
materials ready.  Overseas applicants should provide references with
direct U.S. contacts.  Research assistantships provide an annual stipend
of approximately $16,000/yr depending on qualifications. Tuition is
