Quality Control Specialist

In this role in our Ames, IA facility, you will establish a Quality
Assurance system for BPS Ames Research, following the Best Practices as
developed by the QA teams and the Unit Director. As a member of the QA
Team, you will actively develop Best Practices for processes across BPS and
specifically for the unit in Ames. You will act as the primary advisor in
all QA related matters, conducting day-to-day checks and coordinating
actions and operational changes to ensure implementation of Best Practices.
You will also act as the laboratory and field Safety Officer. Other
- Gate-keeper and storage-keeper for all in-going, out-going and stored
- Assist in contracting out work to outside parties to certify quality of
the products resulting from all relevant processes within BASF Plant
- Assist in the identification of quality measures with the scientists in
the scientific projects.
- Develop unit-specific audit plan and co-ordinate audits.
Required Skills and Education
MS or PhD (or equivalent experience) in biological or agricultural
sciences, with demonstrated experience in molecular biology as well as in
one or more of the following fields: plant and field biology, physiology or
biochemistry. More than 4 years relevant experience in the plant
biotechnology industry. More than 2 years experience in quality control
systems, measures and procedures within an industrial environment. Prefer
experience in establishing a safety program in a laboratory and field
setting, and experience in establishing and maintaining GLP or ISO 9000
standards. Requires a high level of communication skills, leadership and
teamwork to integrate Quality Management into the existing laboratory
environment and ongoing projects.
