The job will involve working with several research groups to assemble =20= a large, complex genome sequence and to identify biologically useful =20 information. Responsibilities will include populating a database with =20= genetic, sequence, and related information; writing and maintaining =20 bioinformatics software; and participating in data mining and =20 analysis of genomic sequence. Required knowledge and abilities include 1) ability to perform =20 various systems operations in the Unix/Linux environment; 2) =20 knowledge of SQL and relational database design and development =20 methods; and 3) skill in the use of Perl or a comparable scripting =20 language to program, modify, analyze, and organize data.
