I have recently been using an E. coli strain called either CMK or CMK603 for chemical transformation with an fd phage derived vector. Does anyone know anything at all about this strain, its origins, and its genotype? It gives a far higher transformation efficiency with this particular (large) vector than anything else I've tried.
