Hello fellow netters:
We are using a promoterless glucuronidase to monitor the
expression of bacteriocin production genes from Rhizobium. We would
like to know if these genes are expressed in E. coli. However, all
of our E. coli strains (HB101, DH5-alpha, S-17, etc.) have GUS
activity which gives us a high background. Does anyone out there
have a GUS-minus strain of E. coli? If we can't find one soon, we
will use lacZ fusions instead. We would rather not do that since we
have the appropriate GUS fusions in hand already.
Thanks for your help.
