As for as dyes are concerned, don't add any dye to your samples because the dye can inhibit protein/DNA binding. I got around that problem by prerunning a dye-containing solution a few centimeters into the gel before loading my samples. Worked well for me. Dan DMEIER at mis.mcw.edu
