For those of you who haven't taken p-chem....
1 mole of liquid (ideally) becomes 22.4 liters of gas. Therefore, 1 mole
of water (18 g or 18 mls) would become 22.4 liters. This volume of gas
would probably blow your vaccuum. Check out a phase diagram of water in a
text book. So if you want to do this, I suggest using a very large
container to hold your vaccuum or do this with only very, very small
gels.
