The one gel a colleague of mine ran was none too impressive.  Bands could
be seen only as a faint reflection from the gel surface.  Sequenase and
this kit are not incompatible, as the above implies; one is a method for
the generation of the sequence ladder (with any of a number of radioactive
or nonradioactive labels) while the other is a method for detecting that
ladder (by silver staining).
