How do you make a giant oligo?

There should be a number of references on this subject out there.
The two "classic" examples are Khorana's synthesis of tRNA in the
early 70's and the Boyer group's synthesis of a growth hormone gene
in the late 70's.  If it worked all the way back then, it should work
now :-)
