Los Alamos DNA database (?)

 Dear netters,

 I am posting this for a colleague who doesn't have easy Internet
 access. He is interested in a gene of which the protein sequence has
 been published recently. However, the DNA sequence was not reported
 but it was stated that it had been deposited in _the Los Alamos
 database_.

 Does such a database indeed exist? May it be used by (non-US gov.)
 scientists? How is it accessed?
