RNA extraction

Sarcosine is N-methylglycine.  Sarkosyl is N-lauroylsarcosine,a
12-carbon fatty acid derivative of sarcosine.  It is a detergent
similar to SDS.  The acid-guanidinium method works quite well for
RNA extraction.  I haven't found anything substantially better.
